uso postgres sotto linux, qualcuno sa come si usano i tool grafici? vedevo che ho nella mia distribuzione linux pgaccess, ma quando lo lancio mi da questo errore:

- Durante la prova è permesso avere con con sè in aula solo il tesserino universitario e una penna.
- I fogli utilizzabili saranno solo quelli consegnati in aula
- Gli zaini dovranno essere lasciati fuori dall'aula. Si consiglia quindi di evitare di portarli.

Sto rinunciando all'utilizzo di mysql per provare ad usare postgresql, l'ho installato su linux, chi mi puo dare qualche dritta su come iniziare ad usarlo?
che comando devo lanciare?
L'ho scompattato e lancia to il file ./configure, ora che faccio?

faccio un paste della documentazione...
passaggi testati e funzionanti..
questo devi farlo dopo aver fatto il ./configure

gmake
su
gmake install
adduser postgres
mkdir /usr/local/pgsql/data
chown postgres /usr/local/pgsql/data
su - postgres
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/initdb -D /usr/local/pgsql/data
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/postmaster -D /usr/local/pgsql/data >logfile 2>&1 &
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/createdb test
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/psql test

questo la prima volta...
le volte successive devi solo lanciare lo script per il server (a meno che non te lo metti in cron e lo fai lanciare in automatico) e aprire il database precedentemente creato...

/usr/local/pgsql/bin/postmaster -D /usr/local/pgsql/data >logfile 2>&1 &
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/psql test

se non ti ricordi come hai chiamato il database
/usr/local/pgsql/bin/psql -l

ti da l'elenco di tutti i database...

1)boh non trova il server... ma il server è localhost, giusto? e se il database è in /usr/data/miodb qual'è il percorso del database????

2)posso dare in pasto a postgres un file con le query fatte invece di metterle una ad una da riga di comando?
