Ma quindi alla base rimarrà il layer di emulazione Posix? Nel senso, c'è un freeze della GUI, i processi continuano però a girare e mi ritrovo in una shell dos, scrivo qualcosa tipo "restartgui" (bel nome ) e mi riparte l'interfaccia? O quest'ultima si riavvia in automatico?

Guarda che in questo caso non è un "copiare gli altri".
Stanno portanto molti driver fuori dal kernel. Ritornano al micro-kernel, un po' come agli inizi.
I primi NT avevano la GUI fuori dal kernel, ma andavano parecchio lenti proprio per quello.
