Non capisco..all'avvio del sistema la RedHat8 mi riconosce correttamente le periferiche USB del portatile..però non trovo il punto di mount!!Dove me le monta??Se lancio mount non mi dà un percorso tipo /mnt/periferica...uffi

Già che sono qui e chiedo numi a chi ne sa + di me (praticamente tutti ),come faccio a convincere la RedHat8 che il modem ADSL è usb?Il modem lo trova (stesso discorso di sopra),però non so come dire a ADSL-SETUP che l'interfaccia non è eth0 bensì USB(non so il mount point!!).Il bello è che se lancio ADSL-STATUS mi dice che la dorsale esiste...però se lancio ppp0-up non si collega...uffi2

Che modem e' ? Per ora, gli unici supportati sono l'alcatel speedtouch (manta) e quelli basati su chip globespan. Entrambi richiedono dei driver aggiuntivi, e non si usa adsl-setup...

Le altre periferiche cosa sono ?

La seconda periferica è un driver per floppy USB,viene riconosciuta perfettamente (pure il modello).
Solo che non trovo il mount point.
Il modem è un D-Link.

Ok, presupponendo che il Dlink sia un dsl-200, e quindi con chipset Globespan, puoi provare con i drivers che trovi a http://eciadsl.flashtux.org/ ...

Per il floppy, questo viene visto come una periferica scsi, quindi il device dovrebbe essere (posto che tu non abbia altre periferiche scsi) /dev/sda. Creati un mount point con

mkdir /mnt/usbfloppy

mount /dev/sda /mnt/usbfloppy

Il punto e' che il driver usb, per le memorie di massa (e quindi anche per i memory stick usb, non solo i floppy), funzia solo come layer tra il driver scsi e il kernel. Non chiedermi pero' il perche' di questa scelta

Gia', altro esempio di driver che si mette tra il kernel ed il driver scsi (o forse *sopra* il driver scsi, in piggyback ? boh)...

Lo zip,il cd esterno e i cazzilli più o meno antichi sapevo che erano visti in quel modo,ma speravo che essendo l'usb supportato da poco avesso inventato un modo intelligente di farlo.
