Ho appena installato la SuSE 8.2 Professional sul mio pc.

Tutto funziona alla grande, ho solo un piccolo problema:

Non mi riconosce i driver di: modem 56k, monitor LCD, scheda video, stampante e scanner.

Il PC è abbastanza recente e quindi la distro che ho, ha i driver solo di versioni precedenti del mio HW (es: Io ho una ATI Radeon 9200 e la SuSE ha i driver solo della 9100)

Lo so che potrei cercare i driver in google, l'ho fatto, ma trovo solo pagine di forum dove parlano di problemi di configurazione relativi al mio HW, nessuno saprebbe indicarmi qualche sito di riferimento, qualche archivio di driver per linux?

Il modem e' integrato? Se si guarda www.linmodems.org, se no non servono driver.
Per il monitor non servono driver, basta che imposti le frequenze e i parametri giusti configurando X (xf86config)
Per la scheda video e il resto guarderei nell'hardware supportato dalla Suse: http://hardwaredb.suse.de

Sul sito della ATI ho trovato dei driver per Linux, per utilizzare i suddetti driver devo usare xf86config?

Nuovo problema: Ieri ho spento il computer (da wmaker: esci --> spegni --> spegni il computer). E mi appare la solita schermata di ciò che sta facendo il kernel (non so come si chiami :\, quella con le scrittine done o failed per intenderci ). Arriva a un certo punto in cui dice: "shutting down the machine" o qualcosa di simile, si disattivano i dischi rigidi, ma la ventola del pc continua ad andare, così come il lettore di schede, il lettore cd e lo schermo

Probabilmente il comando che hai lanciato da solo un halt, invece che uno shutdown.

Verificalo sul pulsante.

Se scrivi da linea di comando "shutdown -h now" ti si dovrebbe spegnere.

A quel punto basta cambiare il comando nel pulsante

Imposta la risoluzione dello schermo a 1024x768 e appena riavvio me la rimette a 1280xsarcazzo quanto...

Vedo le font del menu piccolissime e pure male

La scheda non me la caga minimamente e infatti la risoluzione massima me la imposta a 16bit

i modem della conexant hanno sempre problemi....
Io su XP stavo sclerando per installarlo..poi è arivata l'ADSL e l'ho buttato nel cesso...

Non ho idea di che tool abbia la suse per configurare X, ma se ti fa tanto sclerare userei il simpatico xf86config
