può darsi dipenda dalla risoluzione, io a 1280x1024 la vedo bene la pagina....
prova cosi, giusto per renderti conto bene della dimensione degli span

Perchè Firefox ha tutti sti problemi con i CSS? Io mi sto sforzando per produrre qualcosa che vada bene anche per questo browser, ma inizio a reputare il tutto una inutile perdita di tempo...

em è una delle unità di misura per dimensionare i caratteri

Si esprime in percentuale e dipende da diversi fattori.
Nei miei ultimi 4 lavori web ho preferito gli em ai px.
