Essendo particolarmente interessato in questo periodo ad acquistare oggetti vari da collegare via USB (ca**o 50€ per 128MB di pen drive... ma non è esagerato???), mi trovo spesso davanti prodotti che seguono le specifiche USB 1.1... ora, non avendo mai visto una porta USB 1.1 in vita mia (magari avrò le fette si salame sugli occhi e il mondo ne è pieno), mi chiedevo: dove stanno le porte USB 1.1 a cui attaccare tutti 'sti ***chia di oggettini? ...sono uno standard non italiano? Sono ormai superati e adesso ci stanno solo le 2.0? Sono per Mac?
E le stesse domande valgono per le USB 2.0 quelle che hanno la forma diversa (non ricordo se sono le A o le B)... grazie per le info!

Facciamo chiarezza
Le porte usb le hai viste nella foto che ha messo gabry, con l'eccezione che quella è un schedina a parte metre tu dovresti già trovarle dietro al tuo pc al di sotto delle PS/2 (tastiera e mouse); si trovano a partire dal PII, quindi dovrebbero essere oramai su quasi tutti i computer.

Le differenze tra usb 1.0/1.1 e 2.0 stà nella velocità:
1.1 = 12 Mbit/s
2.0 = 480 Mbit/s
fisicamente sono identiche (cioè non le riconosci ad occhio), cambiano solo gli hub interni (circuiteria) e i cavi, che, secondo le specifiche 2.0 dovrebbero avere ALMENO una schermatura, ma quasi sempre una doppia schermatura, per evitare al più possibile interferenze.

su porte usb 1.1 puoi collegare periferiche usb 2.0 ma andranno più lente con tanto di avviso di XP (le 2.0 sono retrocompatibili).
su porte usb 2.0 puoi collegare periferiche usb 1.1 che andranno alla velocità dell'usb 1.1.

su pc con porte usb 1.1 potresti installare una schedina con porte usb 2.0 ma preferibilmente gli slot dovrebbero essere compatibili con lo standard PCI 2.2.

su un pc senza porte usb potresti installare una schedina con porte usb ma evita le trust, ed è difficile trovarne di compatibili (più che altro perchè ci deve essere uno slot PCI con una certa versione, mi pare sempre 2.0).

Per verificare che tipo di porte hai potresti usare Sisoft Sandra.

Se vuoi io vendo un quadriplicatore di porte..
Inserisci nella usb l' aggeggio e ti trovi 4 porte Usb utilizzabili. Ha led di attivazione. Ha anche l' alimentatore ma puoi anche utilizzarlo senza. Se ti interessa basta chiedere!
L' ho usato pochissimo perchè poi ho cambiato pc e aveva le porte che mi servivano...
