ciao!

sul sito della castano c'è questo tool per (presumibilmente) esercitarsi per la prova di laboratorio.

l'ho scaricato, ma per farlo funzionare dovrei avere il disco partizionato secondo NTFS, mentre il mio è FAT32!

cosa devo fare?

in realtà postgre un pò a calci su fat32 potrebbe anche salirci, il problema è che si perderebbero molte potenzialità e soprattutto sarebbe abbastanza instabile. Questo perchè gli sviluppatori hanno inserito nel codice funzioni specifiche del filesystem (vedi: Directory Junctions).

Il mio consiglio è quello di convertire il tuo fat32 in un ntfs. Dovrebbe essere possibile fare una cosa del genere usando un tool incluso in windows, che permette questa transizione senza perdita di dati.
Dovresti dare un:

code:

convert C: /FS:NTFS /V /NoSecurity

sostituendo a c: il tuo disco.
Non sono un gran esperto di windows quindi prova a cercare un pò in giro prima di dare il suddetto comando :)

Postgres è un Databse, non un tool qualunque... vedi http://www.postgres.org

O converti la partizione in NTFS o usi un altro database, tipo mysql...

comunque bisogna usare postgres perchè ci sono i trigger da usare,fino all'anno scorso si poteva fare con php ora hanno messo il vincolo di usare per forza i trigger! ;)

beh anche mysql ormai ha i trigger, funzioni e procedure (i primi dalla versione 5.0, i secondi dalla 5.1 mi pare). Certo, magari è un pò meno avanzato di postgresql ma su internet sono disponibili ben più risorse...

Certo, poi si può sempre spararsi in un piede e usare oracle o db2 :)
