domanda da newbie:
esiste una documentazione apposita che spieghi passo
per passo come si compilano i kernel 2.6.x in debian??

altra cosa, quasti tutto il mio pc è nvidia, mi è sembrato di capire che ciò è male vero?

io ho un pc con chipset nVidia e non ho mai avuto problemi

Se vuoi ricompilare i kernel a partire dai sorgenti, ti consiglio di leggerti questa guida:

e poi c'è sempre il readme nei sorgenti

grazie per le dritte, sono riuscito a compilare con successo il kernel 2.6.15.

è successo qualcosa di strano però.....
la scheda ethernet ha smesso di funzionare sotto windows xp e sotto il kernel 2.4 precedente. non si vedono neanche le classiche lucine, è proprio morta.

come diavolo è possibile? il bello è che funziona perfettamente con il nuovo kernel

edit: a terminale appaino questi avvisi:

ppp0: hw csum failure

seguito da una serie di dati, ma la scheda funzione comunque.

prova a vedere se dmesg dice qualcosa (la cosa migliore e' levare il modulo della scheda e ricaricarlo)
la scheda di rete cmq si dovrebbe chiamare eth0 non ppp0
ppp0 sara' l'interfaccia dell'adsl, immagino
