File BOOT.INI: come modificarlo?

Ciao, vorrei modificare il file BOOT.INI di Windows, ma non conoscendo bene la sintassi vorrei evitare di fare casini :P

Dunque, io ho 2 HD, uno master e uno slave, e su ognuno di essi ho installato una copia di Win2K. Vorrei avere come predefinito il master, e come scelta secondaria lo slave, ma invece mi ritrovo ad avere il contrario.

Questo è il file BOOT.INI che ha creato windows di default:

default=signature(3b823b81)disk(1) rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT

Ho provato a fare delle modifche ma non ho ottenuto quello che volevo... in particolare non so come gestire "signature(3b823b81)" e "/fastdetect"....
disk(1) è lo slave, mentre disk(0) il master (che vorrei come predefinito).

Prova insomma a modificarlo in questo modo:

Dovrebbe andare... per quanto riguarda la "sintassi" (dedotta per prove, non ho mai letto nulla a riguardo): le istruzioni sotto [boot loader] indicano quanti secondi passano prima che venga avviato il s.o. di default (timeout) e la cartella nella quale è installato tale s.o. (con tanto di informazioni su dischi e partizioni); le righe sotto [operating systems] elencano tutti i s.o. in gioco, indicano la cartella di riferimento e attribuiscono loro una stringa di caratteri che sarà visualizzata dal boot loader. Ignoro che cosa stia a significare /fastdetect... so solo che con Linux non compare con Win2k e WinXp sì.
signature è la prima volta che lo vedo, ma - dalla posizione - deduco sia legato al percorso del Win2k installato sull'hd slave.

Ehm... sì, queste cose le avevo dedotte anche io, ma dato che modificandolo secondo le mie deduzioni non avevo ottenuto i risultati sperati, mi chiedevo cosa dovessi cambiare esattamente...
Il fatto è che i miei problemi riguardano proprio il fastdetect e la signature...
Su un sito avevo letto: "Il comando /fastdetect serve a definire il sistema operativo di default." Ma non ha senso che siano entrambi di default... :shock::?

/FASTDETECT
Default boot option for Windows. Replaces the Windows NT 4 switch /NOSERIALMICE. The reason the qualifier exists (vs. just having NTDETECT perform this operation by default) is so that NTDETECT can support booting Windows NT 4. Windows Plug and Play device drivers perform detection of parallel and serial devices, but Windows NT 4 expects NTDETECT to perform the detection. Thus, specifying /FASTDETECT causes NTDETECT to skip parallel and serial device enumeration (actions that are not required when booting Windows), whereas omitting the switch causes NTDETECT to perform this enumeration (which is required for booting Windows NT 4).
