I listen to my fav band "Queen" I know all lyrics and their meaning...

Sometime I do it, but I think it's much more important to listen becuse understanding is the hardest thing in english. In writing I think it's easier. You have time to think and to understand. When talking you need to catch the meaning immediatly.

The real problem is not write in english, but speak it! I Went to London on the last Holydays, and although I was able to understand what the people said, the difficult was to speak..they eat a lot of vouels and group some consonants..so I speak and they don't understand..

so..let's have a conversation..this is the problem, I think.

Don't worry for your errors everydone does errors... Take a look at becouse... You've to write because, but that's not an important error...

A voice chat, why not? Can you imagine 3 or 4 of us speaking english in Silab with everyone that think we're crazy??

I think my English is quite good, but unfortunately I have only a few occasions to speak. Most of the time, in fact, I read English books and websites, watch movies or write messages on forums and letters, but I speak English only when I travel abroad, which usually happens once in a year or so, that it's definitely NOT enough :-D .
It would be very nice and useful to speak English a little more than that, because I've noticed that after a couple of days in a foreign country words start to flow very well and I don't have to think too much before letting them out

Bullshit, imho. First of all, it all depends on where the brit or the yankee you're talkin to is from, they all have very different accents and slangs....

By the way, quite everyone who knows me (and I'm talkin' about american ones) says my accent is something in between Boston one, Canadian one (Toronto one, in particular), all mixed up with a little texan and southeners' one

That is, almost any damn italian I talk to can't understand almost a single word I say (on the other hand, yankees and canuks tend to understand me quite well )

Have you ever heard Australians speaking?? I have some Aussie friends and their English is terrible!! And the worst fact is that they are not Aussie by birth, they are English!! At least, they don't complain about my English at all :-D

Hrm, yeah. "btw" is an acronym, just like "imho" (In My Humble Opinion) that's used a lot in irc....

But... "ain't" ("am not") or I'm, or "wanna" ("want to") or the like, are commonly used and accepted. And, should someone really want to learn (and use) english then he/she/it (

Hmm, as I already said, there really isn't a "yankee accent", mainly because the USA spans about 3000 miles east-west, and 2000 north-south. In fact, it is estimated that there are more than 50 different accents in the States....

) referring to is the commonly heard LA accent, or, a little less frequently heard, NY one, or maybe the texan one... In NY I had some problems as well, but only in the beginning, then it was ok. When I traveled around US I met different accents, but I could understand all of them - maybe I just was lucky to meet people that could talk clearly .

I have some relatives in Australia and they all say that my accent is really yankee... To me it's allright, I don't mind. The most important thing is to travel all around and understand and to be understood from everybody!

I really enjoy reading English books in orginal language... you can find out particulars that the Italian translation could not reproduce (such as word-games).

However, I agree with you, I mean it's very simple and easy to understand! I learnt also German, and I've appreciated a huge difference! There's only one little negative aspect... I think that sometimes English doesn't allow you to express a thing with the "perfect concerning" word... I mean for an Italian guy who knows a wide vocaboulary it's normal to have this feeling... You wanna say something specific, and the right word is missing, or maybe it means several other things!!!...

I think it's just a matter of context, I'm usually able to catch the right meaning and sometimes I provide unrequested further explanations if I think there's space for misinterpretation of my words

Well, if you see it under this point of view, ok I agree... But actually many ENGLISH people (authors, writers, and so on...) say that english vocaboulary is quite restricted compared with Italian or German vocaboulary...
However I don't criticize English...! And then carrying on talking in English with many of my friends (foreigner friends), I practise a more fluent and correct way of speaking...!!

for some reason that I cannot explain, songs written in English have a different flavour.. I could be wrong 'cause I have never wrote anything in Italian, but some of the guys I play with did it in the past, then switched to English.
By the way, I'm not writing lyrics since ages! Lately I've been writing music only

Italian is more romantic than other languages.... It's ok for love songs, nothing else...

Try to write an heavy metal song in italian, it will be a :sbocco:

When Piero Pelu' was with Litfiba stretched the vocals (proibitooooo is an example) just to reach that "feel" you can have in english but it's really hard to have with italian IMHO....

IMHO Spanish people understand a lot of what is sing in italian, try to go there, with one or two "ole' ", "como estas" u can be understood

We can also say that Nek and Laura Pausini made one or two CD in spanish...
